After our immersive journey through the trauma-filled streets of Victorian England with Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist last month, it is time to pivot. For our October gathering, the Naija Book Club stepped away from fiction to tackle our first major self-help and motivational deep-dive of the year: Stephen Covey’s timeless classic, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Covey’s work is not your typical collection of superficial productivity hacks. It is a profound exploration of first principles, character formation, and the structural foundations of personal and interpersonal leadership. Whether you are managing complex institutional frameworks, building a business, or simply trying to navigate the daily demands of life, this book challenges us to shift our paradigms and build success from the inside out. We will be dissecting these habits, debating their real-world application, and sharing how we are integrating these systemic changes into our own routines.
To make this session even richer, we are absolutely thrilled to welcome a special guest to our virtual stage. Acclaimed author Ugochukwu Ugonna, known for his thought-provoking book Festival of Bribes alongside other notable works, will be joining the conversation. Bringing a seasoned writer’s perspective into the room will undoubtedly elevate our discussion on how character and effectiveness intersect in both literature and life.
Whether you are a long-time regular at our monthly reviews or a member of the public looking for a community of analytical, passionate readers, our virtual doors are wide open. You do not even need to have finished the entire book to join in and draw immense value from the shared insights.
